Notes from a small shed
Planes, saws, chisels and whatever I happened to be making with them. No machines beyond a cordless drill, and a shed that is eight feet by six.
These are written up from my shop notebooks, newest first. The dates are when the work was done, not when I typed it.

A Shaker-style step stool in Scots pine
Two steps, housed treads, a dovetailed back rail and a coat of milk paint. The glue-up went out of square and had to be pulled back.
-
A small walnut box with through dovetails
Tails first at 1:7, a cedar bottom in a groove, and one pin sawn on the wrong side of the line.
-
A sharpening routine I actually keep up
Diamond plate, two waterstones, a side-clamp guide and a strop. 25° primary, 30° micro-bevel, and why the ruler trick stays off my chisels.

Restoring a car-boot Stanley No. 4
Rust off, sole lapped, chipbreaker fitted. I lapped the sole with the frog out, which was a mistake.
